Why an Unconference?
Women in Portland are boldly pursuing their entrepreneurial dream. Yet they stall before they achieve scale. One in eight (12.5%) female owned businesses have successfully scaled. This is 2 times lower than male owned businesses. We have uncovered three key barriers to women achieving their entrepreneurial aspirations – Identifying Resources, Lack of Mentorship, and Less Funding / Sexist Culture. The women’s unconference will provide resources and networking to help overcome these barriers. The Facilitator Megan O'Leary the Director of Member Services from OEN will be facilitating the event and Sara Batterby, CEO of Hifi Farms, will be the keynote speaker.
What is an ‘Unconference?’
Think of this as an open conference that is driven by its participants. Unlike traditional conferences, an Unconference allows for flexibility, open discussion, and debate, all fueled by its attendees. Innovative conversations with some of the brightest people, important purposes and tasks discussed without any formal agenda, and unplanned dialogue led by ultimately what peaks your interest most.
Who should attend?
Whether you’re a CEO, a startup founder, stay-at-home mom with a new idea, allies, or simply just have interest in the topic of women entrepreneurs, we welcome you to join us. This event is open to all genders to attend and participate.
Come to build a collaborative network, establish partnerships, and be in a close community of people that value the same or similar topics of discussion. The sessions will be broken up into 30-minute discussions and spaces are reserved for gatherings that happen throughout the day.
